Much of multi-instrumentalist's songwriting has the tough-minded playfulness found in material seasoned in America°òs best roadhouses. In turn, Gerber's writing can also wax tender, passionate and funky in turns.
Drawing early musical and songwriting inspiration from such schools as the British Invasion, funk, new wave, Southern California psychedelia and the best in mountain jam music, the Ogden, Utah-based Gerber°òs own compositions include velvety rock ballads, high-octane garage band ass-shakers, dance-inducing soul and smokin°ò alt-country jams.
Gerber was a co-founder, as well as one of the principal songwriters, string players and keyboardist for the band Tanglewood. For seven years, Tanglewood built a strong regional following throughout the Intermountain West. Touring extensively for three years, the band recorded two CDs of original material, "Smokey Amethyst Road" and "Everything Grows."
While on tour with Tanglewood, Gerber played a show in Sun Valley that Bruce Springsteen attended. Gerber said the revered Jersey songwriter was very supportive of the band and its music.
Gerber currently manages and performs with the rock bands Ulysses and Labcoat. He also is a rock festival producer and promoter, including co-production of past Rolling Summer Music Festivals and the current Uncle Uncanny Music Festival, now in its 4th year.
Gerber's festivals have featured such acts as Widespread Panic's John Bell, Jerry Joseph and Ween, as well Gerber's various bands and other regional acts.
With better than a decade and a half as a professional in the music business, Gerber has learned the art of fine song-craftsmanship through actually getting the job done and playing for his fans. Hi immediate goal now is to try and sell his songs and work as a session player for other artists.
